Protest at Jantar Mantar

Save Right to Information
The campaign protesting against the recent proposed amendment to the Right of Information Act, 2005 started in Delhi on the 7th of August at Jantar Mantar. The day saw the participation of more than 2500 people, including over a 1000 students from all over Delhi and representatives from different NGOs, social activists and other concerned citizens. The famous musical band Euphoria gave their voice to the protest. Eminent activists Aruna Roy, Dr. Sandep Pandey, Arvind Kejriwal and Madhu Bhaduri were present.
Everyone present pledged to the message of ‘NO RTI, NO VOTE’. This event was organized by the youth group JOSH (Joint Operation For Social Help), with the support of MKSS, Parivartan, Asha Parivar and Kabir.
After the concert, a memorandum was handed over to the Prime Minister’s Office. From 7th August onwards, all activists and students are sitting on a protest at Jantar Mantar, where Dr. Sandeep Pandey is on hunger strike. Other activists and students will also be joining him on different days. This hunger strike will continue till the end of the monsoon session of Parliament.
