Lucknow, Aug 04:
The Jan Morcha of former Prime Minister V P Singh today said it was not
averse to an alliance with the Congress provided it explained its stand on
land acquisitions by industrial houses, wheat import, the Indo-US nuclear
deal and amendments in the Right to Information Act.
“The Morcha is open to an alliance with any like-minded parties barring the
BJP and the Samajwadi Party,” he told reporters here.
He said the Morcha would ally with the Congress on the condition that it
clarified its stand on land acquisitions, wheat import, the Indo-US nuclear
deal and RTI amendments.
Accompanied by Morcha president Raj Babbar, he said the Uttar Pradesh
assembly election due early next year was not a “terminus point. It’s a
bi-product and our agitation will continue even after the elections”.
Babbar said there were several smaller parties with the Morcha and talks
were on for seat-sharing. Asked about Rashtriya Lok Dal chief Ajit Singh, he
claimed that the RLD leader was with the Morcha “at heart”.
