Workshop on RTI Act for dalits
MANGALORE: The district police authorities have organised a workshop on Right To Information (RTI) Act exclusively for members of Dalit communities as part of the monthly meeting with representatives and leaders of the community here on Sunday. Authorities have been conducting this meeting every last Sunday of the month to redress the grievances of these deprived sections of the society.
A press release from B. Dayananda, Superintendent of Police here stated that the resource persons from Pragna Samiti, Mysore, non-government organisation working in the field of social awareness will conduct the workshop. RTI, which came into force in 2005, benefited people in getting information on various issues. Purpose of this workshop is to create awareness among SCs/STs, the release said.
Besides explaining the provisions of the Act, participants will be given practical training on how to fill the applications seeking information. There is no entry fee for the workshop.
