THE GOVERNMENT officers have started entertaining applications following the campaign for Right to Information Act.

Gul Mohammad Ansari,  resident of Chilmapur locality in Gorakhpur, was the first lucky man of the district to get reply of his query from Chief Medical Officer.

Gul Mohammad, who was an employee of Public Works Department, spent Rs 19,139 for operation of his mother’s leg.

He was waiting for the past one year for clearance of his medical bills by the department.

Talking to HT, Gul Mohammad said that within seven days CMO office had responded to his query. He sent a detailed report regarding medical expenses to PWD that has paved the way for clearance of his medical bills.

The campaign, ‘Drive against Bribe,’ was jointly launched by Purvanchal Gramin Sewa Samiti and People’s Forum. Around 500 applications were received during the past two weeks. On Friday, 37 people filed their applications to know the reasons for the delay in clearing GPF and other allowances, after their retirement from services in 1997.

One such query was filed by Ajay Paswan who has desired to know the status of his application to provide reservation to dalits in admission to research work.

He said that a delegation of dalit leaders handed over a memorandum to Minister for Human Resources who has asked UP Governor to take appropriate action.

Earlier, Sudhanshu Tripathi submitted his forms to publish the name of 10 big defaulters of Gorakhpur Development Authority. Similarly, Dhruv Dev Kushwaha registered complaints stating that miscreants have cut off 30 green trees on his land.

Jamal Ehsaan Khan filed an application against the education department and said his wife Nooru Saba Khan, a teacher in Ramdei Inter College, retired from services in 1999 but the department did not finalise the pension and GPF.
