CALL TO UTILISE RIGHT TO INFO ACT
http://www.starofmysore.com/main.asp?type=news&item=10023 Mysore, July 2 (DN&DMR)- Deputy Commissioner S. Selvakumar regretted that the Right to Information Act, though implemented last year itself, is not being properly utilised by the general public.
Speaking after inaugurating a 15-day workshop on ‘Right to Information Act’, organised by the Association of Concerned and Informed Citizens of Mysore (ACICM), at the Institution of Engineers here yesterday, Selvakumar said though the media gave wide publicity about the Act, it has still not reached the people.
“It is a very useful Act and the officials have become alert after many officials were fined for failing to provide proper information to the people,” he said and called upon the general public to make use of the Act.
Corporation Commissioner Dr. K.N. Chandrashekhar said that if the Act is implemented in right earnest, corruption can be eliminated and the State can become a Ramarajya.
The Convenor of ACICM M. Lakshmana provided more information on the Act through a slide show.
P.J. Bharadwaj, Chairman, Institution of Engineers, Ashok, Ashwath and Yogendra were present.
